Couple leaves behind 5 children following Northborough murder-suicide

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Police are investigating a shooting that left two people dead at a home on Pond View Way in Northborough, according to the Worcester County District Attorney's Office.

Northborough Police called in State Police Tuesday night around 10:25 for a death investigation, according to State Police spokesperson Dave Procopio.

One person was pronounced dead at the home, another was transported to UMass Memorial Hospital where they were later pronounced dead. They were identified as Debra and Thomas Blasko, both 57, of Northborough.

According to the DA's office, the shooting stemmed from an argument between the two people. Thomas reportedly shot Debra before turning the gun on himself, investigators said.

A neighbor tells us two of the couple's five children went to her house after the gunshots.

"It was just a long night, the detectives were here until about 2 in the morning," said Carly Johnson. "Their two boys came over to our house, they were just sitting on the ground right here crying."

Northborough Police says they had not responded to domestic violence calls there in the past. Those who knew the family say this was shocking.

"I didn't even see this coming. It was just so tragic," said Johnson. "I mean, they would always stop, talk, he would always plow our driveway. They were super nice, they had a day care. They were really pleasant people."
