Community mourns Holliston woman killed in accident

HOLLISTON, Mass. — A 73-year-old woman was killed in a horrific accident in Holliston over the weekend.

Police say Sharon Hunt died from her injuries after she was hit on Washington Street.

The woman's family told Boston 25 News that Hunt had just finished eating breakfast with one of her sisters and they were getting into her car when she was hit by another car and dragged several feet.

Neighbors can't believe Hunt was killed.

"I broke down crying, I was very upset," said Savannah Littman.

"She was a very sweet woman who lived here, we actually helped her out when we could," Littman said. "We shoveled her stairs in the wintertime. Her sisters and grandsons were always here helping her with her property."

Hunt had four sisters and a brother, plus three grandsons who stopped to leave cards and flowers at the spot where she died on Washington Street. Her family said Hunt had just put her house up for sale to move in with her siblings in Blackstone, after losing her husband a few years ago.

"I was really sad to see that she was moving and then it was even more tragic to hear about what happened downtown," Littman said.

Police say Hunt was getting into her car, which was parked on Washington Street, when a Toyota Prius crashed into her.

A pickup truck then crashed into that Prius.

So far, no one has been charged in the deadly accident.

Neighbors say they'll miss Hunt, a sweet woman who lived on Pearl Street for decades.

"She was always very friendly, always very kind to the kids," said neighbor Sandy Gallagher.

And as her family begins to deal with her loss, "I’m sure all of our neighbors, thoughts and prayers are absolutely with them," Gallagher said.

Police revoked the license of the driver who hit Hunt, but so far no charges have been filed.

The accident remains under investigation.
