City to vote on South End development

BOSTON — Boston is set to vote on a 1.6 million square foot development in the city's South End.

Exchange South End would be located at the old site of the Boston Flower Exchange on Albany Street.

The proposal would include four buildings. Restaurant and retail space would occupy the bottom floors, while the top floors would have office and lab space.

The developers of the project hope to create more than 4,000 jobs. Critics believe the project would lead to more traffic issues in the busy area.

City officials are expected to approve the project.
