Charlestown Navy Yard proposals call for floating restaurants, Ferris wheel

BOSTON — The Boston Planning and Development Agency has published a series of proposals to develop a portion of the Charlestown Navy Yard.

Proposals were supplied by the Anthem Group, DC Beane and Associates, Balance Architects, Sea Boston, Upton and Partners and the USS Constitution Museum involving a number of ways the city could activate unused space.

The proposals include art installations, aesthetic and functional lighting, signage, benches, various harbor walks and several restaurant and brewery proposals.

One includes an expansion of Courageous Sailing, while another would add a floating paddle sport dock for rentals and classes.

Another proposal calls for a Ferris wheel to be installed along the waterfront, while two include floating restaurants on old boats.

The USS Constitution Museum proposed expanding the museum and including outdoor exhibits, including telescopes to the past.
