MBTA: Aquarium T stop reopens after shooting investigation

BOSTON — The Aquarium T stop has reopened and Blue Line trains are now operating on a normal schedule after it was closed Sunday night after shots were fired on the platform of the station, according to MBTA Transit Police.

The T tweeted just after 5 a.m. that regular Blue Line service would resume for the morning commute.

Transit Police said a preliminary investigation suggests an "unknown disturbance onboard an inbound Blue Line train involving several juvenile males," that continued onto the platform at the Aquarium Station T stop, according to a news release. As the group left the station, two shots were fired; no one was hit or injured.

Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan said in the release, "We are extremely grateful no one was injured during tonight's incident and all available resources will be deployed to identify, locate and apprehend the person/s responsible for such reckless and criminal conduct".

Police said the investigation is active and ongoing.

Original story

Boston Police tell Boston 25 News that they are assisting Transit Police, but would not say what led to the closure. The MBTA tweeted that police were investigating possible gunfire, but later deleted that tweet and called it an ongoing police investigation.

The MBTA tweeted that trains are operating to/from Gov't Center and Wonderland, but that there is no service to Bowdoin. A rider tweeted back to the MBTA asking why trains were not going to Bowdoin. They responded that "a train with potential evidence is at that station. Police intend to search it."
