A university spokesman says the student was charged with writing "racially explicit" messages inside Welch Hall.

The student is also accused of assaulting a BC police officer.

Pictures show the words written in black in a dorm common room and bathroom.

The school suspended the student and says he could be expelled. He's also expected toface criminal charges but is currently undergoing a mental health evaluation

The school's vice president of student affairs sent an email to the Boston College community saying, "as a Jesuit, Catholic university, Boston College has zero tolerance for acts of racism."

She says the actions are in conflict with institutional values that call on the community to treat one another with love and respect.
