Basket case: Hot air balloon blown off course, lands on Andover highway

ANDOVER, Mass. — A hot air balloon had some commuters on Monday morning wondering whether they were still asleep and seeing things.

It turns out that a real hot air balloon did in fact land on Route 125 in Andover during the morning commute.

According to police, the hot air balloon accidentally landed in the wrong place at around 8 a.m. on Rt. 125 near Rt. 28.

State and local police responded and assisted with directing traffic around the balloon. It took officials about half an hour to deflate the balloon and move it off the roadway.

Police are still trying to determine who the balloon belongs to.
