Arbella foundation $2.4M in donations in 2018

BOSTON — The Quincy-based Arbella Insurance Foundation wrapped up 2018 with a total of $2.4 million in donations to 667 organizations.

The local foundation directs money into various charitable organizations in New England and supports disaster relief funds. It also organizes Arbella Insurance Group employees, who contributed more than 1,300 volunteer hours throughout the year.

“At our core, Arbella is a community-centered organization,” said John Donohue, chairman, president and CEO of the Arbella Insurance Group and chairman and president of the Arbella Insurance Foundation. “I continue to see our employees and our independent agents band together around local causes, creating a strong presence for charity events. I am grateful to see that energy and that ethos thrive within our organization as it truly makes a lasting impact in our communities and beyond.”

The foundation contributes to organizations like Special Olympics, the Merrimack Valley disaster, Boston MedFlight's Capital Campaign and the Distractology safe driving campaign. The safe driving initiative travels around Massachusetts educating students on the dangerous distractions before drivers.

The foundation also supports events like Stop the Stigma, Kate's Run, Out of Darkness Walk and the Cake Walk.
