All dressed up with nothing to plow: Businesses hurting in mild winter

NORWOOD, Mass. — The lack of snow this winter is taking a toll on many businesses in our area.

A few Norwood business owners are doing a snow dance, hoping to get more than just a dusting.

This isn’t the sight snow plow companies want to see this time of year.

Their plow trucks have been sitting with nothing to plow, so they’re hoping this weekend is the start of a much snowier second half of winter.

Chris Fillipelli is one of many snow removal business owners hoping for that.  He says they’re already seeing a dip in business with the lack of snow so far this season.

"So far, it’s been fairly terrible for someone in this business, just hoping this weekend kind of starts it off and brings us what the winter usually brings," Fillippelli said.

His company – Popular Painting and Snow Removal – plows homes and businesses across the Boston area. And right now his crews are just on standby, hoping the forecast takes a turn for the worse.

"Hoping for a ton of snow. If you don't get snow now, it makes up for it in March," he said.

Plow trucks are standing by, ready for whatever weather comes this way this weekend. This company will be out Thursday night salting the roads, hoping for some plowable snow soon.
