32-year-old woman drowns in river in Manchester, New Hampshire

A missing kayaker's body was recovered in the Piscataquog River in Manchester, New Hampshire on Friday, police say.

The New Hampshire Fish & Game dive team recovered the 32-year-old woman's body shortly after 9 a.m. on Friday in 14 feet of water in the river.

Police say the woman was kayaking with three other adults in separate kayaks on Thursday, and officers responded around 9 p.m. after she had reportedly overturned in the river before capsizing and disappearing.

Members of the Manchester and Goffstown Fire Departments searched the area, but couldn't find the kayaker in the water. Divers from the Nashua Fire Department joined the search, which was then suspended Thursday night.

The search continued on Friday, leading to divers recovering the body.

Police say that it appears alcohol consumption and the lack of a person floatation device may have been factors in the incident.

The incident is still under investigation.
