2 in New Hampshire affected by E. coli linked to romaine lettuce

Health officials say two people in New Hampshire have been affected by a new multi-state E. coli outbreak linked to romaine lettuce.

The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services announced the two cases Wednesday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say the E.coli strain has sickened 32 people in 11 states and 18 people in Canada.

A specific source of the romaine lettuce has yet to be identified. The CDC is recommending that consumers throw out any romaine lettuce in their homes, and avoid eating romaine at restaurants.

The CDC's advice includes all types of romaine lettuce, such as whole heads of romaine, hearts of romaine, and bags and boxes of precut lettuce and salad mixes that contain romaine.
